On behalf of the Truckee Trail Foundation . . . this is going to be a solid event . . .
It’s almost here!
This Thursday, at our second annual Rock & Roll for Trails, hear the local favorite Santana tribute band Montaña play, followed by the local premiere of Race Across the Sky, the story of the grueling 2009 Leadville Trail 100 Mountain Bike race! Here, a clock is set for 12 grueling hours, with 100 miles of travel, over 14,000 vertical feet of climbing, through extreme climate changes ranging from heat to hail, from rain to snow. To the racers, the risks of injury, fatigue and mechanical failure pale next to the chance that they will fall behind the 12 hour cut-off mark and be eliminated. Rivalries include six-time defending champion Dave Wiens vs. seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong. Race Across the Sky gives viewers a trail-side look at the intensity of the event, the competition between elite racers, and the amazing commitment of the support teams along a course that winds through spectacular mountain scenery.
WHEN: Thursday, August 19. 6 pm, music starts at 6:30; film at dusk.
