The best part of this stage race was winning, but a close second was welcoming our new teammates Chuck Hutcheson and Joe Iannarelli.
I was lucky enough to draw the short straw to blog the time trial. The Rock Creek Time Trial….sucks. It hurts like all time trials should, but there is something extra… rough roads, constantley up and down and impossible to maintain a good cadence, speed and power output. We also got an 8am start time with cold, wet weather.
After going 1-2-3 in the road race, we were sitting pretty for the overall…but Kris Lunning and I always push for bragging rights… Thanks for not coming Teeter. Within 3 minutes after shoving off from the start line my garmin mount flipped upside down and was about to fall off. I spent most the the race trying to adjust the stupid thing to hang on… not sure if I was more distraught about losing the garmin or not seeing my power. No power reading = I’m not moving. This would be a great spot to plug the bar fly garmin mount. Just got one from my boy Kris and it is sweet. Check it out. I was certain that it was not going well, but I was passing people so that always helps. I ended up winning…slaughtering Kris’ time by a solid 20 seconds, and Chuck “I can’t time trial” Hutcheson took 5th securing our 1-2-3 sweep of the overall pending a safe circuit race.
